Why PTFE Needs Special Treatment

The #1 Mistake: Stacking Without Protection
I've lost count of how many shops stack PTFE sheets like plywood. Big mistake. PTFE cold flows under pressure. Leave a sheet under a stack for a month and you'll get a permanent wave no planer can fix.

Handling: It's All About the Grip
PTFE's friction coefficient (0.05-0.10) is so low it's hard to pick up without dropping. Use nitrile-dipped gloves or vacuum lifters for anything over 12" × 12". Never slide a sheet across a table—you'll embed abrasive particles that cause tool chatter later.
Don't Do This: Forklift tines directly under PTFE. The point load will permanently deform the bottom sheet. Always use a full plywood backing sheet.
Flatness: The Real Test
